I’ve always wanted to make it over to Monterey Bay. It was a brisk day, but perfect for a bread bowl of clam chowder and sea salt carmel hot cocoa. In honor of the occasion I downloaded a copy of Steinbeck’s Cannery Row.

Downtown Carmel is full of retired people, jewelry stores, and not-an-ideal-investment art, but it was alot of fun just to walk around and see the buildings. It reminded me of the quaint European towns whose construction dates back to simpler times, but the novelty of which now makes for a great destination.

Hillsboro’s Helvatia Tavern is a well-known burger place in the Portland area. I got a normal-sized burger, although they have another that is twice the size.

Jenn and I always like walking by the shelves of Lladro that reside in Macys. They always remind me of grandmothers. In this case, Indian grandmothers. The centerpiece here, $5500. Priceless.
