There is a fair amount of construction taking place where Jenn’s aunt and uncle live. It probably took a century for plants to migrate to these small islands in the Pacific and perhaps tens of years for plants, ferns, and trees to overtake lava rock and populate the surface. These dirt mounds are sites of future houses, ploughed over to their rocky bases. On the order mere years man can come and transmute the landscape to his fit including grassy lawns from the mainland and concrete pathways.
