Margie’s Diner

Margie’s Diner

We love to try local favorites. Margie’s Diner in Paso Robles is a small chain that specializes in larger-than-life breakfast dishes. Neither one of us could finish which was perhaps a good thing considering the long road ahead to LA. The trek was divided into two legs to make travel time more reasonable.

Cannery Row

Cannery Row

On our return trip we stopped in Monterey for dinner. Both The Grotto and Fish Hopper serve some of the best creamy clam chowder I’ve ever had. Cannery Row, the same wharf town Steinbeck roamed and recited became our evening of seaside dining. This was the last respite of a long, three-day weekend before work.

Made In Hawaii

Made In Hawaii

Made in Hawaii is a special convention for all things Hawaiian. It would be the equivalent to a large Farmer’s market where we are. They had everything from jewelry to food to flowers all made in Hawaii and made available to locals and tourists alike.

Sunday Brunch

Sunday Brunch

One of the more restful respites was having brunch at a local golf course. They had a delicious spread with everything from sushi to crab and even chocolate macadamian nut pies. This was by far the best food we’ve gotten at any local dining establishment.
