Harvard campus had some very pretty and stately buildings. I never really thought how much Cambridge campuses are so well nestled into the surrounding cityscape.
This is how I imagined MIT with it’s Greco-Roman columns and domed interior. This room is building 7–not building 10 dome, which was originally conceived as the main entry. This was Jenn’s and Jacks first subway trip. It was surprisingly convenient enough to get strollers on and off of this form of public transportaion. Buses on the other hand can be daunting.
MIT’s main courtyard of buidings was designed to allow students to walk from building to building without needing to go outside–a good indicator o the severity of winters in this part of the world. The hallway itself is some 775 feet long.
I met Benjamin Tee, a college friend who just completed his PhD from Stanford, at the Computer History Museum. They have greatly improved the exhibits and layout. Here is Honeywell’s 1965 kitchen computer that reads recipies out in binary.
