We were able to take Everett out for a birthday dinner at Duke’s. Pictures don’t quite capture the sense of emotions present on such an occasion. It was nice to be out and see a part of Malibu and the Californian coastline. Duke’s or rather the restaurant that was there that became Duke’s was the same restaurant that Everett brought Jean before they were married. We were serenaded by musicians who performed a tender rendition of the Hawaiian love song and a special Aloha birthday song. We were happy to be able to get people together and enjoy the day. There is perhaps no greater commodity than time. It passes and moves forward ceaselessly and if we don’t actively take and participate in the moments, they will surely pass us by.
